Javni zavod Športni in mladinski center Piran is a local public entity established by the municipality of Piran. The organisation works in the field of sports and youth satisfying the needs for the implementation of the national sports program and the sports program in the municipality of Piran and coordination and implementation of sports and youth activities in the municipality of Piran. That includes:
- management and maintenance of sports and other public facilities in the municipality of Piran,
- providing conditions for creative work of young people,
- ensuring the organised implementation of activities of cultural, educational, informational and social nature with the aim of systematically developing activities and creativity of young people in our municipality.
Mladinski EPI center Piran (youth center) is part of Športni in mladinski center Piran and operates in two locations in the Slovenian coast – in Piran and in Lucija.
The youth center aims to provide young people living or going to school in the Municipality of Piran with the following:
- a safe place where they can spend their free time
- organised extracurricular activities (theater, language clubs, arts etc.)
- support and guidance
- help with homework and studying
- international youth exchanges
- volunteering opportunities (national and ESC)
- career orientation activities and more.
Both youth centers are open from Monday to Friday in the afternoon. During the summer (and other school holidays), we organize activities for children aged 6 to 10 years old in the form of a «day camp».
The youth that we usually work with are between 13 and 20 years old, but with different activities and projects we try to involve all young people up to the age of 29. The staff consists of 5 youth workers and some local and international volunteers.
In the past we were involved in various Erasmus + and OFAJ/DFJW projects (youth exchanges, volunteering projects). Since 2018 we are successfully hosting European Solidarity Corps volunteers and we regularly host youth exchanges. So far we have hosted numerous EVS / ESC volunteers. Our aim is to give the opportunity to participate in mobility projects to all the young people, youth workers and trainers in our community that would like to do that.
